What we do in KNX and BMS for Gran Canaria

Premium residential KNX

Detached homes, penthouses, villas with pool or high-end apartments. Lighting, blinds, zoned HVAC, multi-room audio and access control integrated on the standard KNX bus.

BMS for hotels

Canary Islands hospitality: KNX for lighting and blinds, BACnet/IP for HVAC, Modbus TCP for chillers and drives. PMS sync (Opera, Protel, Mews) and occupancy-based management.

Full project engineering

Coordination with architect, builder and electrical contractor from the design phase. Electrical schematics, bills of materials, switchgear sizing and ETS Professional programming included in the scope.

Maintenance from Tenerife

Secure VPN remote access for diagnostics, changes and extensions without inter-island travel. Scheduled visits for on-site reviews and support throughout the system's lifetime.

Why KNX in a home or building in Gran Canaria

International standard, no lock-in

KNX is an open standard (ISO/IEC 14543) installed in millions of homes and buildings since 1990. Any certified integrator can maintain or extend the installation — your investment is never tied to a single manufacturer.

Real energy efficiency

Zoned HVAC, blinds with solar tracking, automatic disconnection in unoccupied areas and consumption monitoring. Under Canary Island weather, the gap between a KNX home and a conventional one shows up on the monthly bill.

Resilient to internet outages

Logic lives on the bus, not in the cloud. If the internet drops, the home keeps running normally. IP gateways for voice or app control are an added layer, not a dependency.

AI and data integration

On top of the building's own data (consumption, occupancy, weather) we apply AI models to anticipate demand, detect anomalies and run HVAC against real usage patterns instead of fixed schedules.

Frequently asked questions

What we're asked the most about KNX home automation in Gran Canaria.

Does Indótica work in Gran Canaria if your office is in Tenerife?

Yes. Our office is in Santa Cruz de Tenerife but we run projects in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma and La Gomera. For projects of meaningful scope — premium homes, hotels, institutional buildings or technical rooms — inter-island travel is part of standard operations and is included in the proposal with no surprises.

How much does a KNX installation cost in a home in Gran Canaria?

Every home is different: size, finishes, control scope and construction state all move the budget significantly. We deliver a custom study with no obligation — technical visit, detailed line-item proposal and timeline. Ask and you'll have it within 48 hours. Inter-island travel is included in the proposal with no surprises.

Which areas of Gran Canaria do you cover: Las Palmas, southern resorts, inland?

Anywhere on the island. Residential projects tend to concentrate in central Las Palmas and premium southern areas (Maspalomas, Mogán, Tauro, Anfi, Salobre). In the hospitality and tertiary sectors we also work in Vecindario, Telde, Arucas and other municipalities. Logistics is planned so that inter-island travel does not impact deadlines.

Is KNX the same as a "smart home" system like Alexa or Google Home?

No. KNX is a wired international standard (ISO/IEC 14543) designed for residential and professional buildings for the last 30 years. Alexa, Google Home or HomeKit are voice control layers that can be added on top of KNX via IP gateways, but they don't replace the KNX bus. The difference is robustness: if internet drops, KNX keeps working because the logic is on the bus, not in the cloud.

Why KNX and not a cheaper proprietary system?

KNX is an open standard: any certified integrator can maintain, extend or replace equipment. Proprietary systems lock the client to one manufacturer for life — if the brand discontinues a product line or disappears, the home becomes obsolete. KNX has existed since 1990 with guaranteed backward compatibility. For investments lasting 20-30 years (the lifespan of a well-built building), the open standard ends up much cheaper.

Do you also do BMS building automation for hotels in Gran Canaria?

Yes. Beyond residential KNX, we deliver BMS systems for hotels and tertiary buildings on KNX, BACnet/IP and Modbus TCP. We have hospitality clients in Tenerife (La Laguna Gran Hotel, Baobab Suites) and the approach for Gran Canaria is the same. Site visit, detailed proposal and a deployment plan compatible with the hotel's operations.

What warranty and maintenance do you offer after delivery?

A 2-year legal warranty on equipment. What matters most is the maintenance contract: 1, 3 or 5-year packages with scheduled visits, remote monitoring and incident response. No lock-in: the client can switch integrator at any time because the KNX programming (ETS file) is delivered upon project completion.
