What you gain with a smart home

Real comfort

Lighting, blinds, HVAC and audio respond to scenes, schedules or presence. One press triggers a "movie night"; a presence sensor switches lights off when you leave. The home does what it should, when it should.

Energy savings

Zoned HVAC, blinds with solar tracking and automatic disconnection when no one's in. Under Canary Island weather the gap with a conventional home shows on the monthly bill: 15-30% less consumption is common.

Security and peace of mind

Presence simulation while you travel, technical alarms (water leaks, smoke, intrusion) integrated with the system, and mobile alerts when something deviates from the usual pattern. Your home warns you before the problem grows.

Simple control from your phone

A single app for everything: lights, HVAC, blinds, audio, access. Works from outside the home or by voice (Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit). If internet drops, the wall switches keep working as always.

Why home automation in Gran Canaria

Built on an open standard

We work with KNX, the international standard for residential and professional buildings. Any certified integrator can maintain or extend the installation — your investment is never tied to a single manufacturer.

Designed for the Canarian climate

Blinds with solar tracking to handle southern heat, zoned HVAC to avoid cooling empty rooms and consumption monitoring to catch waste before the bill arrives.

Engineering, not just an electrician

We design, program and maintain the full system: electrical schematics, bills of materials, professional ETS programming and delivery of the file to the client so they never lose control of their installation.

Long-term support

We accompany the system throughout its lifetime. Extensions, firmware updates and equipment replacements without scrapping the existing programming. A well-installed KNX home lasts 20-30 years.

Frequently asked questions

What homeowners ask us the most.

Do I need to do construction work to install home automation in Gran Canaria?

In new builds there's no extra work: the bus cable is run with the rest of the electrical installation. In renovations it depends on the scope: sometimes replacing the consumer unit and mechanisms is enough; other times new cabling is needed. When civil work isn't viable, we complement with wireless modules (KNX-RF) to avoid part of the wiring.

How much does it cost to automate a home?

Every home is different: size, finishes, control scope and construction state all move the budget significantly. We deliver a custom study with no obligation — free technical visit, detailed line-item proposal and timeline. Ask and you'll have it within 48 hours.

How much can I save on the bill?

In Canarian homes, typical savings of 15-30% on HVAC versus an uncontrolled system. Zoned HVAC (instead of one setpoint for the whole house), automatic shutoff when no one's in and blinds with solar tracking are the highest-impact levers. Combined with PV self-consumption, savings multiply.

Is it complicated to use for non-technical people?

No. The interface is designed for whoever uses the house, not for whoever programs it. Traditional wall switches with clear labels, touch panels if you want them, mobile app with predefined scenes and voice control if you prefer. Technical complexity lives on the bus, not in daily experience.

What if in 10 years I want to extend or change companies?

No problem. We work on the KNX standard, open since 1990. Any certified integrator from any company can take over. We deliver the ETS programming file at project completion — it's your installation, not ours. This is the difference compared to proprietary "smart home" systems that lock you to a manufacturer.

What happens if the internet drops?

The home keeps working normally. KNX is a wired bus: the logic lives in the wall components, not in the cloud. Lights, blinds and HVAC always respond to the physical switches. The app and voice control are an added layer that only needs internet for remote control from outside.

Does Indótica work in Gran Canaria if you're in Tenerife?

Yes. The office is in Santa Cruz de Tenerife but we run projects in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma and La Gomera as standard practice. Inter-island travel is part of the project and is included in the proposal with no surprises. For later maintenance, much is done remotely without travel.
